Nanta Buranakanchana

Profile/BIO

A successful business woman for over 30 years, Nanta Buranakanchana has proven herself to be a dynamic leader. Nanta Completed her Bachelor of Science in business from Roosevelt University. In 1977, she started her own business, Zenray Inc, which is still running successfully to this day. Her professional accomplishments have earned her a listing as an Honored Professional in the American Directory of Who's Who in Executives and Business.

Nanta has shown the drive to help those less fortunate from an early age. Before coming to The States, she had started a manufacturing business in Thailand that was taking off. Having stabilized the business, Nanta turned her attention to those in need around her. It was known that people who live in the northern part of Thailand, where it gets cold, could not afford the warm clothing needed to survive. She was able to mobilize a team, drawing from each individuals strengths, and raised enough money to purchase and handout a substantial amount of warm garments.

In addition to being an entrepreneur, Nanta is an active community leader to this day. She served as president of the Thai Southerner Association before serving as president of the Thai-American Association of Illinois for an unprecedented 2 terms. During her tenure, she significantly increasing the organization's membership base and launched several new initiatives, including a certification program for nursing assistants, a legal clinic, health checkups and business discounts.

Nanta's work outside the organization are indeed impressive. In 2004, she spearheaded a campaign to raise over $100,000 for the tsunami disaster relief. She was instrumental in organizing the 2004 Illinois Asian-American Festival, the Annual Asian Coalition Dinner, and supported the Thai Taste of Chicago. Nanta and her team work closely with the Thai temples in the area, chairing
events such as "Songkrahn" and "Salakaphat". None of this would have been possible without the help of her team and of course our community.

Nanta is truly proud to help those in our community.
If she is not able to directly fill certain needs, she knows the channels that can help. It is this attitude that gained her trust and respect in our community.
