Celebrating the Journey of Life
April 11, 2011, Chicago, IL—Local Chicago artist JacQui Horton was excited to debut "Arunati," which is a poetically rich composition written by world-renowned Arun Sampanthavivat, who attended the concert along with friends and industry colleagues. Although Arun is best known as an executive chef and civic leader, he loves to write poetry and has composed more than eighty songs in his Thai language. This first public performance of Arunati was performed both in Thai and English. Arun is owner of Arun’s Thai Restaurant located at 4156 N. Kedzie in Chicago. His upscale restaurant is listed in Patricia Schultz’s New York Times bestseller, 1,000 Places To See Before You Die.
Monchaya Jetabut (June), special guest singer from Washington DC, performed Arunati in Thai version
JacQui sings R&B, jazz, blues and gospel music. Over the past five years, she has built a following in Chicago through live performances. Since October of last year, she has booked regular performances at The Drake Hotel in Chicago and was just added to the lineup at the House of Blues’ Back Porch stage—her next House of Blues show is May 7th at 10pm. Last year JacQui began performing as a USO National Anthem singer. She recently appeared as guest artist with David Young and the Ken Arlen Orchestra Trio at a benefit for the National Runaway Switchboard, and soon after that performed at the anniversary event of Central City Productions, television producer of the nationally-acclaimed gospel music Stellar Awards.
