Tammy Duckworth, The First Thai-American woman elected to US Congress

It is definitely a victory for all Thais as well when Tammy Duckworth won Illinois' eighth congressional district. She is the "first" Thai born woman to have a seat in congress. Ladda or Tammy, 44, born to Thai mother and American father. In this picture she was on stage delivering her victory speech, accompanied by her husband on left, her mother and brother on right.

Tammy Duckworth gave interviews to media right after her victory speech.

Congratulations to Tammy from "California Friends Support Tammy Group"

Tammy Duckworth met her Mother by the stage after the winning announcement.

She is making a step up on stage with help from Thomas Joseph Duckworth, her brother.

Her reaction seeing the whole crowd cheering "Tammy...Tammy..".

The crowd was so excited and cheering on for a long time.

Delivering her victory speech with the family by her side.

Khun Poxie Xumsai is being interviewed by Thai TV Channel 3

There were more Thai people there to greet and congratulate her.

After all the media frenzy in the room, Tammy headed off to the less crowded area, where her personal friends were there to greet her. I asked if she was tired. She said no, but said she planned to go straight home and get some sleep.

This is the last picture I took of her that night before she left home. In this the picture with her mother joining her and some young campaign volunteers, plus the Thai reporter on right from Voice of America.
